Council Information: Committee Structure

Committees are where the work of the Council actually takes place. The committees are charged by the Chair to review issues and make recommendations to the Council. Council  makes its decisions at Council meetings, based upon committee recommendations. Committee meetings are generally closed meetings, while Council meetings are open to the public.

Water and Sewer - This committee is responsible to evaluate the situation in the Community of Miltonvale Park, with respect to water and sewer issues, such as evaluating servicing options and costs, investigating funding opportunities, and preparing short and long term plans for the community, and encouraging sustainability within the community.  The committee chair is the council chairperson. Members include Betty Pryor and George Piercey.

Finance - This committee includes Gail Ling as Finance Chair, Brian Andrew and the council chairperson .  They are responsible for the preparation of the budget, the distribution of council approved funds, and the presentation of financial statements.

Planning - The Planning Board is responsible for the oversight of planning and development within the community.  The development officer, Alfie Wakelin, receives development and subdivision applications, and those which are straightforward and comply with the bylaws, can receive timely approval. Applications which may be complicated, or have issues, are reviewed by the Planning Board.  The Planning Board includes Betty Pryor  as Chair, Sheila Mackinnon, Joe Murphy, Charles MacKenzie (resident) and the council chairperson(ex-officio).  The Planning Board takes a lead role in the Official Plan and Bylaw review currently underway in the community.

Parks and Recreation - This committee is responsible for the supervision of the community park, its park shelter and the summer recreation program, liaising with Communitites 13 Inc., and for developing policies around park use. Chair Sheila MacKinnon works with committee members Joannie MacKinnon (resident) and the council chairperson.

Personnel Committee is responsible for the human resource areas of Council, including employee evaluation and workplace policies. Gail Ling is the chair with Sheila MacKinnon and the council chairperson(ex-officio) as members
